Sunset in The Sea

This book aims to capture the beauty of blue & orange that are intertwined; from the deck, tangerine groove, and in the kitchen of a pirate ship, at the fine restaurant or the shore of a visited island during a grand voyage, and with the dreams of a mysterious ocean within a complete world map.

Content Description

This anthology aims to cover canon-compliant story spread in many arcs from Baratie to end of series. The story doesn’t have to occur within the arc but could be in the intersection between two arcs like a filler as long as it has a description of the time setting. These are the samples of idea:

  • Post-Skypiea: Usopp gives Sanji & Nami pranks with insects, knowing their weakness in Jaya

  • Pre-Water 7: Usopp told Sanji about Kaya who gives them Going Merry. Sanji teased Usopp but then Usopp teased Sanji if he has feelings for Nami more than any girl.

  • Zou: All moments before Sanji left with Capone

  • Post-WCI: Nami is drawing a map and she wondered how Sanji moved from North Blue to East Blue. When Sanji serves her meal, she is hesitant to ask but Sanji can read it. Then he finally shares his story.

  • Post-Wano: Nami suspects Sanji will use his raid suit to peek at her bathing. So she asks Sanji to hand her the raid suit, not knowing he had destroyed it. The conversation then goes on.

This anthology is more about headcanon of off-screen or missing scene. However, AU is allowed but limited only in the common one such as OP Hungry Days, French!Sanji x Sweden!Nami in modern life, or Sanji being a beautician x Nami being a childcare worker.

Book Design

SPECIFICATION

  • A5 (13.5 cm x 20.5 cm),

  • 175-250 pages (depends on the length of the fanfic)

  • Book paper 80gsm

  • Offset, soft-cover

  • Monochrome blue except for 14 pages of full-color illustration.

  • Bonus merch is a bookmark and an A4 art-paper sized poster, with same illustration as cover book. It's all stretch goal, will be added if the order meet certain number of sales.

BOOK FORMAT

  • There is an introduction essay about the relationship

  • Fanfic will get full page illustration as its cover story, not spots.

  • Stories are arranged by canon timeline order with optional 1-2 AU story at the last one.

  • All mods and contributors will be credited like a book author so they'll have remark.

Contributor Application

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENT FOR COLLAB ARTISTS & WRITERSYou will be asked for 3 pieces that represent the best of your fanworks in your application, however
You must submit at least one completed “Sanji/Nami” piece, whether it's romantic or 'nakama'ship.
Portfolio is optional, but the more you can show your passion and love towards SanNami in your fanworks, the better.

COLLAB ARTIST (14)

  • Full background isn’t required in your submission and your final work as long as it’s not blank white, but it’s highly encouraged.

  • Traditional art is welcome, but must be scanned in high quality. 600dpi or higher is preferred.

  • You are expected to create a brand new portrait illustration aligned with the fiction based on the summary/blurb of the writer's accepted pitch idea.

COVER ARTIST (1)

  • Your experience to draw SanNami art isn’t required but highly encouraged.

  • You have to submit at least 2 of 3 illustrations with full background in your application. We judge you by your strong grasp of color and composition and a good understanding of anatomy.

  • You are expected to create a brand new double page/spread illustration with dominant blue & orange color aligned to the tagline "Sunset in The Sea." Please fill your canvas as much as possible.

COLLAB WRITER (14)

  • A canon-compliant story isn’t required in your submission, but it’s highly encouraged.

  • You're expected to write brand new oneshot fanfic with a range 2000-3750 words or 8-15 pages of A5 paper with font size 9 single space. It must be excerpted in summary/blurb not more in 250 words. This summary/blurb would be also displayed in the book.

  • You are welcome to use your own beta reader. Our beta reader mod will also be available to look over all fics before final submission.

ESSAY WRITER (1)

  • Your experience to write SanNami essay isn’t required but highly encouraged.

  • You'll be asked to submit 3 pieces of fandom or entertainment essays in your application; can be about story review, character analysis (including pairing), or theory.

  • You are expected to written a relationship essay of SanNami aligned to their color aesthetic, journey, and dream with a range 1500-2000 words or 6-8 pages of A5 paper with font size 9 single space.
